“I have experienced enormous events and lived an unusually rich and privileged life. If I were to die tomorrow, I could quite honestly say that I have already now lived for more than my share of life.”

Jonne Järvelä (b. 1974) is Korpiklaani’s heart and soul—the founder of the band, its lead singer, and the chief song writer. Korpiklaani, which was established in 2003, is today the most internationally successful Finnish-language band, conquering the stages from South and North America to China, Japan, and Australia. The band’s journey to international arenas has included joy, wild adventures, pitfalls, and bitter partings.

Korpiklaani’s music combines the rawness of metal and the joy of folk music, colored by the tones of the violin and the accordion. The band’s Finnish-language lyrics, based on the Kalevala meter, have brought folk poetry to a  new era. Thanks to Korpiklaani, thousands of fans around the world have discovered the beauty of Finnish mythology and language.

The Story of Jonne Järvelä and Korpiklaani tells about Jonne’s colorful life and offers a thorough history of his music production.

Timo Rossi (b. 1986) has worked as a TV director and scriptwriter. His first book, Lapinlahden linnut—Miksei asioista puhuta (Docendo), was published in 2023.
